Mr. and Mrs. Kim are Korean Canadian convenience store owners who have worked hard to give their now-grown children, Janet and Jung, a better life in Canada. This single camera comedy finds laughter in the trials of running a literal 'Mom and Pop' shop while raising kids in a culture not quite your own. Mr. Kim (56), usually refereed to as "Appa" (Korean for "Dad"), takes pride in running his small business in the big city, and considers himself and his store a corenerstone of the community. He treats his customers like family, handing out pearls of wisdom along with their change. He can also be stubborn and stern, a quality that has led to his greatest regret - the estrangement of his son when Jung was sixteen. The two have not spoken since.
